In 2022, National Circus Festival wowed Mullumbimby with a massive program of more than 220 artists, 100 shows, 2 big tops, five stages, and The stunning Famous Spiegeltent.
Run by world leading regional youth circus company Spaghetti Circus, the festival spectacular celebrated its fifth year, featuring a contemporary circus multi-arts program of acrobats, live music, comedy, cabaret, performance and workshops. There were loads of family shows, an outdoor cinema and performances from Spaghetti Circus’ performance troupe.
Highlights of the festival included The Wheel of Death, a 12m high 500kg steel pendulum, a hot air balloon installation, Brunswick Picture House’s signature Cheeky Cabaret, Werk-it Comedy trick tease, and one of Australia’s premiere acrobatic companies Gravity & Other Myths (GOM).
The festival featured musical acts programmed in collaboration with Mullum Music Festival. Think a boutique version of Edinburgh Fringe meets Glastonbury in Mullumbimby!
The four days leading up to the weekend festival saw 200 circus trainers and participants from all over Australia converge on-site for a circus industry training program.
