– All our coaches over 18yrs have a working with children check, our coaches under 18 don’t need one as they are children themselves.

– There is always a staff member on who has a valid Senior First Aid and who is an Accredited Gymnastic Australia Coach


Founder & director of Spaghetti Circus for the past 21 years

Leonie is an accomplished performer and choreographer. She has performed all over Australia, including the National Circus Festival, Woodford Festival and the Adelaide Fringe Festival. She specialises in acro balance and all aerials. Leonie is a highly skilled and experienced circus coach who holds a level 1 in coaching with Gymnastics Australia. She was a junior and senior gymnastics champion who was ranked 4th in Australia.

Yos Worth

Yos Worth – Originally inspired by the legendary Archaos Circus (France), Yos has spent the last 26 years performing and teaching circus. She has also been a director of circus, physical theatre and underground music & arts events working across the UK, France, Spain, USA, plus Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Albury-Wodonga.


Yos’ specialist circus disciplines are hula, static trapeze and contortion flexibility technique – but in a great circus tradition, pass her a club and see what she can do!

Yos is also an accredited Pilates Method Instructor. She runs group and private Pilates classes in Mullum and across the Byron Shire.

Petrina Hutchinson

After a childhood of hanging upside down and cartwheeling to the shops, Petrina has spent over 30 years motivating and coaching other people to hang and flip around. Petrina has a Bachelor of Education in Dance and Physical Education, plus a range of coaching accreditations across different styles of gymnastics; from 2005 – 2015 she worked for Gymnastics Australia managing recreational gymnastics events, programs and resources. Petrina has presented coaching workshops and courses all around Australia, as well as in Brazil and South Africa.

Petrina specialises in teaching teenagers and adults. She enjoys daggy dancing and jumping off the bridge at Bruns.

Christy Shelper

Christy Shelper is an internationally celebrated circus artist and solo aerialist. Her long association with world-renowned Cirque du Soleil and many other productions has seen her performing across the globe. Christy’s solo aerial skills have featured in the Opening Ceremony of the Melbourne Commonwealth Games as well as an artist in residence at the Shanghai World Expo. Christy’s skills and experience, honed since she was seven years old, have created a world-class, versatile and enchanting performer. Christy is currently taking a break from the stage to spend time with her young family and for the first time in a long time is staying in one place. She is thrilled to have the chance to share her skills with the Spaghetti Family.

Simone O’Brien is a freelance performance maker, writer, teacher and director of circus and physical theatre. From 2006 – 2012, Simone enjoyed the role of the Artistic Associate with Legs On The Wall physical theatre company where she delivered artist development and social circus programs, physical theatre curriculum for the secondary and tertiary education sectors and directed small scale and large scale aerial events. She has made work with and for the community, education and corporate sectors including Redfern Community Centre, the National Centre for Indigenous Excellence, National Institute for Circus Arts, the National Institute of Dramatic Art and the Beijing Olympics.

Simone specializes in aerial, trapeze, harness work and contemporary performance drawing upon an eclectic mix of influences to make work. Simone has worked as a mentor, choreographer and director with a wide range of artists and organisations including: Bibi Bulak in East Timor, Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority, Woodford Folk Festival Fire Event, Aerial director for the Aerodome Departure Lounge and Balloon Spectacular at Canberra’s Enlighten Festival, Adelaide Festival Club (Barrio and Lola’s Pergola) host, Circus Oz, JUMP mentorship program, Force Majeure, Casula Powerhouse Way Out West Festival, Circus Festivals in the WA, Mullumbimby and Tasmania, Hoopla Circus Festival, Sandfly Circus in Broome, Flying Fruit Fly Circus and the Catapult Youth Circus Festival.

Recent professional development includes:

  • Ecole Philippe Gaulier, Paris, Summer School, July 2013: Clown and Le Jeu
  • Emerging director in Cultivate (2011) and Culminate (2012), Force Majeure’s and Performance Space’s directing laboratories, Carriageworks, Sydney.
  • Art of Play – Children’s experimental theatre with Chiara Guidi, (Societas Rafaelo di Sanzio), Campbelltown Arts Centre, NSW. 2010
  • Asialink Residency in East Timor – 3 month teaching circus and physical theatre with Bibi Bulak performance troupe & the Galaxy band, 2005.

Head of Circus School

Lani is an old spaghetti student who is now the Head of Circus School, Senior Coach, Exercise Physiologist and Freelance Performer. Head of Circus School focuses on the running of the school, community shows, class structure and progression and managing the coaches.
