Spaghetti Circus History
Who we are and where we came from?
|
Spaghetti Circus is a community based performing youth troupe that began in 1992. From humble beginnings it has grown to become a nationally recognized circus troupe, that has achieved success through enormous efforts from the coaches, parents, volunteers, State and Fedral governments and particularly support from the local community and businesses.
We are primarily a youth circus based in Mullumbimby, Australia.
Over our 14 years we have seen many children grow and blossom.
We have developed many talented performers who now work around the world as circus delegates for renowned companies such as Circus Oz |
Our past has been a colourful journey and a wonderful discovery into the world of circus arts and physical theatre. We have had the great opportunity to work with many established and renowned circus trainers and artists.
The long and winding road started from a disadvantaged schools grant at the Main Arm Public School under the inspiration of Leonie Mills. As a small community circus from humble beginnings we have grown in reputation, not only for our skills and creative ventures, but also for our great heart in the development of youth.
|
Thousands of children have passed through our doors over the last 14
years. We have had the opportunity to help develop confidence, strength
and a platform for skill, in an environment where all are equal and
help build the wonder and awe of circus for many a smiling face and eye
filled with wonder.. |
We have performed in many great places like the Adelaide Fringe
Festival, and at the front of the Sydney Opera House ~ and yet there is
nothing like seeing the welling eyes of pride in parents as they watch
their children perform something they have never seen them do before in
the yearly Community Classes Performances.Leonie and a strongly creative team of performers slash everything have
maintained a sense of devotion and care for circus and community, and
have often been acknowledged by the world of circus academia for this.
Spaghetti Circus now proudly steps into the future with it’s new program and
Artistic Director Simon Adams.

The great thing about circus is there's something for everyone, find
your passion and away you go, endless play. Often I see parents
swinging or jumping, picking up juggling balls or hoola hoops. All are
enthused by the joy of the circus ~ and the Spaghetti Circus gym is a
huge playground for all age groups, weather finding your inner child or
watching your own child, there is a sense of wonder invoked, playful
and daring. Spaghetti Circus has earned itself the reputation as one of Australia's leading youth circus ~ from its teachings and performances, maintaining all the heart of this very special community.
